Data storage
All user preferences, transcripts, and voice history are stored locally in ~/Library/Application Support/InputCasper/ on your Mac. We have no access to this data. You can delete it at any time.
Who we are
Input Casper is operated as an independent software product. We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below. You can reach us at support@inputcasper.com.
What stays on your Mac
All speech recognition, transcription, AI text cleanup, and your voice and clipboard history are processed and stored entirely on your Mac using Apple Silicon. This data never reaches our servers or any third-party server. We have no technical ability to access it.
What we process and why
We process a minimal set of data strictly necessary to operate the service: • Email address — collected when you subscribe and sent to our server once per day to verify your active subscription via Stripe. Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). • Hardware identifier — a pseudonymous identifier derived from your Mac is sent when a free trial starts (to prevent unlimited trial restarts) and, together with your email, when a subscription is verified or transferred to another Mac (to enforce the one-device limit). Legal basis: legitimate interest in preventing abuse and performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). • App version and macOS version — sent to our own update feed (inputcasper.com/appcast.xml, via Sparkle) when the app checks for updates, about once a day. Like any web request this includes your IP address, which we do not log or retain. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping users on secure, up-to-date software (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Analytics & tracking
The app collects zero analytics or usage telemetry — there is no third-party analytics or tracking SDK in the app, and no usage counters of any kind. Our website (inputcasper.com) uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-friendly page-view counter. It sets no cookies, stores no identifiers on your device, and does not track you across sites; visits are counted via an anonymized hash that cannot be linked back to you and expires within 24 hours.
Stripe
Subscription payments are handled by Stripe, Inc. When you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment details and stores your email address as part of the billing record. Stripe acts as a separate data controller for payment processing. Stripe is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and applies Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers. See stripe.com/privacy for Stripe's privacy policy.
Where your data is stored
Subscription and trial records (email, hardware identifier, subscription status, device-transfer log) are stored with our hosting provider Supabase in the European Union. Stripe, our payment processor, operates infrastructure in the United States; the payment-related transfer to Stripe is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission.
California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents may exercise their rights to know, delete, and correct personal information by emailing us; we respond within the statutory timeframe and do not discriminate against anyone who exercises these rights.
Data retention
Your email address is retained for as long as your subscription remains active and for up to 30 days after cancellation to handle billing disputes. The hardware trial identifier is retained for 12 months. Update check logs are not retained beyond the immediate check. Local data on your Mac is under your full control.
Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port the personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@inputcasper.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. In the EU, find your national authority at edpb.europa.eu. In the UK, contact the ICO at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced via the in-app update mechanism. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
